Milwaukee Brewers fans traveling to St. Petersburg can head home after one more victory. The team defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night to seize a 3-0 lead in the World Series.

The win moves the Brewers within one game of their first title. They have not won the championship since moving from Seattle in 1970. A victory in Game 4 would make them the first team to sweep both the League Championship Series and the World Series since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.

The series began with two close games in Milwaukee. The Brewers then dominated on the road. They have won eight straight postseason games and four in a row away from home. Rookie left-hander Robert Gasser pitched one-hit ball and faced the minimum 18 batters through six innings.

Gasser became the first starter to face the minimum in six innings of a World Series game since Curt Schilling in 2001. He is also the first left-hander to do so since Sandy Koufax in 1965. He has allowed one run in 15 innings over three starts this postseason.

The Brewers broke the game open in the fifth inning. They recorded seven straight hits with two outs. This set a postseason record for consecutive hits in that situation. It was the first time in World Series history a team scored eight runs with two outs in a single inning.

Jackson Chourio started the rally with a single. He later stole second base. Brice Turang hit a two-run single that bounced off a glove. Garrett Mitchell, Cooper Pratt, and Sal Frelick added runs to make it 8-0. Chourio finished 4 for 5 and stole a base.

Tampa Bay starter Freddy Peralta gave up five runs and seven hits in four and two-thirds innings. Rays manager Kevin Cash said Peralta felt good but had inconsistencies in and out of the strike zone. Cash described the team's position as a chip and chair mentality, noting they must win to stay alive.

The Rays led the American League with 98 wins. They swept the Yankees in the Division Series and beat the Guardians in six games in the ALCS. They have never won a World Series in their 29 seasons of existence.

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. Griffin Jax is expected to start for Tampa Bay. The stadium, which underwent renovations after Hurricane Milton, hosted a sellout crowd of 40,388 on Monday.

Chourio said the team has prepared for this moment. He stated they have one more game to lock in to complete the mission. The Brewers led the majors with 103 wins this season.
