A Riverview man faces attempted murder charges after allegedly strangling and stabbing a woman inside a Tampa residence on Wednesday.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies reported that a verbal dispute between 36-year-old Daniel Yerty and the victim escalated into physical violence. According to investigators, Yerty attacked the woman in the neck and hands before fleeing the scene in her vehicle. Deputies located the victim with multiple stab wounds and transported her to a local hospital, where officials now list her condition as stable.

The arrest occurred shortly after the incident. Detectives reviewing the scene spotted a man matching Yerty's description walking on foot nearby. After confirming his identity, officers took him into custody. Sheriff Chad Chronister stated, "This domestic abuser was in handcuffs within hours of his violent attack."

The Sheriff's Office filed four charges against Yerty: first-degree attempted murder, burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery, domestic battery by strangulation, and grand theft of a motor vehicle. The department's Domestic Violence Unit is leading the case. Sheriff Chronister added, "We will never stand for this behavior, and our Domestic Violence Unit will continue its relentless pursuit of individuals like the suspect in this case."

Investigators have not yet released information on what sparked the initial argument between the two individuals. The case remains under active review by HCSO detectives.
