The game ended on a one-on-one finish.

Roope Hintz scored the winner at 3:47 of overtime to give the Dallas Stars a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at American Airlines Center. The goal came directly off a pass from Miro Heiskanen. Jason Robertson had just blocked a Winnipeg chance in the neutral zone. Heiskanen moved the puck forward quickly to send Hintz on a breakaway. The sequence turned a defensive stop into an immediate attacking opportunity.

Heiskanen played a heavy role in the loss for his teammates. He did not score, but his 29:20 of ice time was the highest on the team. Thomas Harley logged 28:27. The next Dallas defender by minutes was Lian Bichsel at 17:47. Nils Lundkvist, Tyler Myers, and Kyle Capobianco also played defense. The workload was uneven because Esa Lindell was scratched from the lineup.

Dallas trailed for most of the game. Dustin Johnson scored early in the second period for Winnipeg. Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor added goals to put the Jets ahead. Hintz tied the game at 1-1 with a power play goal with two minutes left in regulation. The Stars outshot the Jets 38-19 throughout the contest. Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves to keep Winnipeg in the game until the extra period.

The final play relied on a shared recovery. Heika reported that a Robertson turnover created the initial Winnipeg chance in overtime. Robertson then blocked the shot to regain possession. Heiskanen received the puck and made the decision to launch it down ice. Hintz controlled the puck and beat the goaltender to the net.

Heiskanen finished the night with five shots, one block, and the winning assist. Harley did not score. The Stars will look to adjust their defensive pairings in upcoming games. Lindell's absence was specific to Thursday night. The team has not announced a return date or a permanent change to the rotation. The next scheduled game will test the current defensive depth.
