Catholic radio host Patrick Madrid hosted a live call-in segment on October 28 that focused on questions regarding marriage, theology, and personal faith.
The program began with a question from a listener named Jack. Jack reported that he suffered from prostate cancer and underwent a prostatectomy. He noted that he no longer produces sperm. He asked if he could still engage in marital intimacy with his wife. Madrid explained that the listener is capable of engaging in the natural act. He stated that the listener's openness to the act can remain even if seminal fluid is not emitted.
A second caller named James agreed with that assessment. James said the caller can engage in the proper way. He emphasized that the spiritual aspect of the act remains intact despite the physical changes.
The discussion then shifted to societal concerns. A caller named Mary described growing up in a communist country. She moved to America to seek freedom. She expressed concern that young people are tempted by the lies of communism. Madrid discussed these threats to religious tradition during the segment.
Another caller, Sarah, asked for advice on her adult son. Her son is planning to have a vasectomy. She asked what she could do in response to his decision. A listener named Francisco sent a question via email about apologetics. He asked how to refute the idea that religion is bad and that people should focus solely on a personal relationship with Jesus.
The show also included a correction from a listener named Victor. Victor noted via email that Jack’s question was about performing the marital act without emitting seminal fluid. He clarified that the act was not mutual masturbation. Madrid acknowledged the correction on air.
