Sam Fender has eliminated the premium standing tier for his upcoming Proper Massive tour, capping the cost of Wembley standing tickets at 98.85 pounds. The 32 year old musician made the change after fans reacted strongly to the initial price list released earlier this week. By removing the front standing zone, the singer ensured that no standing ticket for the London show would exceed that new ceiling.

The initial controversy began when a user named Gavin Davis posted screenshots of the Wembley listing to Instagram. The data showed a wide gap between admission types. Front standing tickets were originally priced at 130.75 pounds, while standard standing tickets cost 98.85 pounds. Seated tickets ranged from 64.75 pounds to 130.75 pounds. Fender replied to the post directly, stating that he was unhappy with the figures and that the inflation went beyond his original plan.

Fender explained that any price increase should cover the actual costs of staging the production. He argued against adding extra profit margins for ticketing partners. The singer specifically targeted the division of standing areas into front and back sections. He called the practice "bollocks" and confirmed that his tour would not use that format. He expressed surprise that such a system had become standard in live music.

The pricing issue was not isolated to Wembley. Listings for other cities on the tour also showed standing prices over 100 pounds. In Newcastle, the top ticket cost 112.90 pounds. Cardiff listed top tickets at 119 pounds, and Manchester set its top price at 119.60 pounds. Edinburgh had the highest price point in the UK lineup at 120.95 pounds.

General ticket sales for the tour begin on Friday. A presale opens on Wednesday morning. The tour will run across the summer of 2027. Fender will perform at major stadiums including St James’s Park in Newcastle, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Marley Park in Dublin, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

Fender joins other artists who have questioned live music pricing. In August, Zara Larsson shared a similar view on TikTok regarding her Bangkok show. She said she wanted more input on pricing because high costs stopped people from attending. Fender’s move follows that sentiment, aiming to lower the financial barrier for fans.

Alongside the tour announcement, Fender confirmed that a fourth studio album is in production. He has not yet shared the title or cover art. This new project follows the success of his 2025 album People Watching, which won the Mercury prize.

The singer has released hits like Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under. He has won five Brit awards. Earlier this year, he collaborated with Olivia Dean on a duet version of Rein Me In. That track won the 2026 Brit award for song of the year. It also spent 23 weeks at number one on the singles chart, making it the longest running number one single in British history.
