Anthropic submitted its initial public offering paperwork to the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, October 26, setting the stage for a public stock debut as early as next month. The filing aims to raise up to $100 billion in United States dollars, a figure that would eclipse the $86 billion raised by SpaceX during its June listing.

The document lists the company for a place on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol ANT. This move positions the five-year-old startup ahead of rival OpenAI in the race to go public, a sequence that analysts expect will result in two major market events for competing artificial intelligence laboratories.

The 335-page filing reveals that while revenue is expanding, the company has not yet achieved profitability. Anthropic reported a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026. That figure represents a steep increase from the $13 billion loss recorded in the same period one year ago. The company behind the chatbot Claude remains in the red despite its rapid growth trajectory.

Private investors valued the firm at $965 billion earlier this year. Reports suggest that valuation could climb to $1.5 trillion or potentially $2 trillion in the public market. At the lower estimate, Anthropic would rank alongside Tesla among the most valuable public companies in the world. The final offering price and valuation have not yet been established.

CEO Dario Amodei and his sister, co-founder Daniela Amodei, stand to see their personal wealth increase by billions of dollars if the sale proceeds as anticipated. Dario Amodei recently argued in an essay that the development of advanced AI models should be slowed, citing potential existential risks to humanity. This warning arrived just weeks before the company moved forward with its plans to access public capital markets.

The IPO would provide the firm with substantial resources to accelerate its expansion. The specific amount of capital raised remains uncertain, as does the final share price. However, even at lower estimates, the transaction would solidify Anthropic's position as a dominant force in the global technology sector.
